Volkswagen Beetle Type-1

Classic car Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen Beetle – popularly known as the “People’s Car” – is one of the longest production cars, manufactured from 1938 to 2003. This 2-door, rear-engine, economy car, is one of the most recognizable vehicles in automotive history. Its success can be gauged from the fact that its sales outnumbered the Ford Model T, when the 15,007,034th bug was rolled out the assembly line in VW’s Wolfsburg plant in 1972. As the sales of the vehicle began to plummet in 2002, the company decided to stop the production, and the last Beetle was produced in July 2003, in Puebla, Mexico – until the legacy was revived when the “New Beetle” was introduced in 2006.

Willy’s Jeep

Willy’s Jeep

Willy’s Jeep, also known as Willy’s MB, was initially manufactured for the army during World War II. The multi-faceted jeep was one of the most reliable military vehicles, as it could be used on multiple fronts in adverse conditions. After the US won the war, this is what General Dwight D. Eisenhower had to say about the MB, “America could not have won World War II without it.” Three years after the war, Willys-Overland introduced the CJ-3A – the country’s first true off-road recreational vehicle – the battlefield icon went on to become a favorite among civilians. There were various other models that followed, but CJ-5 has the distinction of being the most popular.

Ford Mustang

Ford Mustang

It all started with the vision of one man – Lee Iacocca, the then General Manager of Ford. Mustang was introduced in the year 1964 and around 22,000 Mustangs were sold on the first day of its release.  Within a short span of two years, there were more than one million Ford Mustang’s plying on the road. Till date, there have been six generations of Ford Mustangs that have plied on roads. Some of the most popular models are California Special, GT350, SVT Cobra R, GT500 and Mach 1.

Mini Cooper

Mini Cooper

Voted as the second most influential car of the 20th century, Mini Cooper is one of the most iconic vehicles of 1960s and also one of the most loved cars among most classic car lovers. The car was developed as a response to fuel shortage, and need for fuel efficient cars. In the year 1961 and 1963, two motorsports version of the car, Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S were launched. During the 1970s and 1980s, the future of the car was uncertain as its license was sold to Italian and Spanish companies. The Mini, now, continues to flourish under the brand BMW that retained the Mini Marque in 2000, and relaunched the line from there.
